Hi everyone,
I was machining a poplar jig with 1/16" channels when I noticed the machine was making a clicking noise at regular intervals, synchronized with the y-axis motion. I shut the machine down and went under it to see if the noise was synchronized with the rack and pinion. It wasn't, but was perfectly synchronized with the motor gear.
I removed the motor and spun its shaft. It stuck in the same spot every rotation and was very difficult to turn. I have some nema 34 motors on hand (https://www.oyostepper.es/category-9-b0-Motor-paso-a-paso-NEMA-34.html) that were not difficult to turn, so I believe this motor is faulty.
Has anyone else had similar experiences or can offer a solution? Thanks in advance for all the advice.
