I have an old Toshiba Satellite Pro laptop that suffered some damage due to a lightning strike surge on the LAN port.
It continues to work fine (upgraded from XP to Win 7) except that:
The LAN card is detected, even by the BIOS, only on alternate Hard Boots. I use WiFi for my net connection, so there is no problem as such.
I am able to run Ubuntu \ LinuxMint, Windows 7 / 8.1 / 10; both 32 and 64 bit versions, but as I mentioned in the begining, the LAN card issue is the same.
Can someone give an idea as to why or what parameter causes the LAN detection Only on Alternate Hard Boots?
