Wire 3 different wires into a 18-22 AWG lug

The answer is maybe. The combined size if the three wires is closer to 17AWG than 18AWG and the number of conductors may be as large as 16AWG. So simply fitting the wires into the lug may be a problem. Then there is mechanical strain from crimping which maybe break wires or simply shear them off.

It is probably better to look for an alternative, such as an 18AWG jumper to a butt splice that can handle all the wires more easily.

First things first ........
Strip the wires 2 to 3 times longer than is needed.
Carefully straighten, and untwist all individual strands.
Carefully and very neatly twist all strands into a single group.
Solder all strands together.
If the new single "solid wire" You just created will not fit in the hole that You have available,
then crush it in a Vise, or with heavy Pliers, until You achieve a shape will that will fit,
and/or,
use a very fine File, or a Dremel-Tool, or even a Bench-Grinder, to "shape it" until it fits the hole.

Since the strands are soldered, they will have tendency to break near the solder-joint
so be sure to secure the wire against vibration or excessive, repetitive, bending movement.

Use your "tapered pick" tool to open the end of the lug just a bit. Then the wires should just slide in. Then a very gentle crimp, or solder just a bit from the ring end of the barrel.

You can do it (we've all do it before) but it's not recommended as you lose the proper crimp specifications for mechanical holding, resistance/current capacity that are usually designed for single wire crimping.
You lose the reliability of a proper crimp.

Properly made crimps do not require solder. If you need to add solder, it's not a proper crimp.

CERTAINLY THAT IS TRUE!!! and, consider that I was not suggesting any crimp at all, but only a solder connection, certainly any crimp would be the wrong one. The serious benefit of not crimping is allowing repair ability. Not such a big deal with ring terminals, but a huge deal with connector pins.
OF course, even with a ring terminal, the ability to do a quick repair can be quite handy.
