Greetings,
I'm noobish tinkerer who got re-interested in electronics when I started to collect high power lasers. I'm 47, no formal training, still at the breadboard level. Found ACC when I was trying to find some specs on a obscure Chinese IC.

I didn't know Java was electronic.
I was thinking the same thing :D

I'm learning Java myself, I got hired as a Java programmer for software development. The only thing about Java that's electronic is the computer you run it on.

Either that or a coffeemaker....

Hi,
New here, hoping to pick some brains and share whatever I can.
Getting some more free time and going to get fresh soldering iron burns.

Howdy from what's left of the Wild West! I'm Jim from Western Wyoming. I'm a freshman at DeVry University in Electronic Engineering with a concentration in Renewable Energy Resources. I've been dabbling in electronics for 30ish years, and computers just about that long. I finally decided to make a career of it. I actually plan on a Masters in Education and teach it.

I saw a t-shirt the other day that I must have: Resistance is not futile! It's voltage divided by current.

Hi,

I know this is not the way :D so apologies

First ask questions and then introduce oneself.

I live in Mexico and my hobbies are Astronomy, Old cars and from time to time a little bit electronic in order to get going my Observatory :)

Thanks again for the warm welcome answering my first 2 questions and Sorry for introducing myself so late.

No problems. We like helping folks here, and no introductions needed really. If you hang around we'll get to know you. When you think about it it is like that everywhere.

Hi everyone, Im 24 years old, currently work for an electronics company called 'Wood and Douglas' and have been working in electronics since I left school.

I am enrolled into college this year to start the Level 4 HNC in electronics which begins in September. I thought I had a really good understanding of electronics but since joining my new job I have since seen that my knowledge is not what I thought it was.

My worry now is that the HNC is a step too far and I might be left behind in college, do you guys have any thoughts on this?

I am reading books that people at work have recommended to me and I am putting in the time and effort outside of work hoping to catch up ready for september and that is how I found this place. Looks really friendly and there is a lot of great advice on here so I look forward to picking up some more electronics knowledge from you guys.

The field of electronics is so vast that nobody can know it all. Even well educated engineers will step into a company with a decade or two of R&D under its belt and find themselves learning how far a particular expertise has been developed. You learn as you go. Everybody does.
