Which IGBT modules have a built in voltage clamp allowing them to switch inductive loads with an snubber across it?

There are SSCM IGBTs for ignition applications but when looking for IGBTs thru an online retailer such as digikey there isn't any filter for this.

What size do you need? Many of the dual IGBTs that are used in power circuits have them built in But they aren't circuit board mounted through hole types. Their size from memory is around 1 1/4" wide by ~3' long, and have screw terminals. I have a few that I could dig out if you want a part number to get a idea of what I'm talking about.

Another thing I like about the 'iso top' type configuration is the mounting base is isolated, so no worry of shorting to the heat sink. I see what I can find for you, I do know I have a ton of snubbers that I acquired about the same time.

No need to take it to any kind of polish, in fact if you do that with a buffing wheel it is bad. You just needed to get both surfaces flat, use a metal block and wrap it with sand paper, 80 grit is good enough. But you still need to use heat sink compound. The reason though that a buffer isn't good for this is it won't give a good enough flat surface, and it is flatness that gets both surfaces in good tight heat transferring contact.

Now to the IGBT modules. They don't use zeners in any I could see, even looking on line, they use TVS suppression diodes, the symbol looks like a back to back diode. and they are larger than I remember. But here is links to what I'm talking about -

Both are not being made any more, but at the bottom of each page are other newer parts to look at.
