I've come into a scope and function generator and have no idea how best to utilize these new tools. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! :)

I thought it would be a great tool to help understand PWM better. I need to find a resource on how to get started with PWM/PICs.

If the scope is fast enough, check out video signals. Very complex signals.

Get an LMH1981, build a sync separator.

If you have X and Y inputs, make Lissajous patterns.

Quick fuse check: Touch one end of the fuse, connect the other end to the scope input. Good fuse, you see 60 Hz. Fubar fuse, you see nothing.

if you have a fast-rise pulse generator, make a Time Domain Reflectometer.

Any poky old gray haired grandpa scope can do Lissajous. When you see a scope on TV, in the movies, it usually has a Lissajous pattern on it. Doesn't flicker, like a sweeping trace would.

20 mHz would be fine for video.

Does it have a delayed sweep function? Lets you capture a portion of a horizontal sweep, expand that to full width. Lets you see a subframe within a frame of data.

If you're going to be probing around in mains circuits, be very careful you can easily damage the equipment!

I've been working on a personal project where I transmit digital information over the mains and I accidentally damaged my Probe 1 input on my Tektronix 3032.

ruh'ro, rorge.

My mistake. What I meant was: with the scope probe hanging out in empty space, touch the tip. Your body acts like an antenna, picks up 60 Hz. To test a fuse, hold it by one end and touch the other end to the scope probe. See 60 Hz, fuse is good.
