I want to invest in a crimping set like the photo you had posted. Do you think the one I posted would do the same job as what you had posted?

It looks like a superset of what I posted because it has male headers, ribbon cable, and a crimping tool. The Amazon price seems decent if you have Prime and don't have to pay extra for shipping.

EDIT: To prove my point about the same items being sold on Amazon and Ali Express, note the comparison of the connectors from the two sources. I mirrored, rotated, and sized the AE picture to match the Amazon listing (on left):

It looks to me like they used the same picture.

 

The expensive set of crimpers shown in post#41 is about$100 less than what I have seen.

Good for connectors but not intended for butt splices, which I believe was the original bent of the question - how to solder two wires together.

I own a crimper designed for butt splices and for things like ring terminals. And I'm not talking about those cheap things you get at an auto parts store. Those work but leave much to be desired - IMHO.

Because mine were used in the course of my livelihood, I used to buy the best,
Weidmuller ! But $$$.

I was inspired by this forum thread and am uploading some photos of different ways to interface my USB cables with my solderless breadboard.



The setup.



The blue is supplied by a 5v wall wart/charger. The green is supplied by a USB Hub to a barrel connector. The red is supplied also by a USB Hub but to a ribbon cable/jumper combo for easy plug into the BB rails.
