What is the program used for 3-D printing?

That would include generating the file for the original object, transmitting it, and sending it to a printer. If I already have an object I want to copy, is there a 3-D scanner and what is the program?

depends on the printer. I used a reprap printer. Drew my models in Sketchup, used slicer to turn it into gcode, and pronterface to send it to the printer. Arduino to flash the firmware.

I'm using Freecad, to construct my models.

Then I'm using Cura, to slice the model.

Then I use Pronterface to print it.

On the hardware side, I have a Raspberry Pi 2 connected to an Arduino with RAMPS 1.4, which controls the hot-end, hot-bed and stepper motors. Whe the Raspberry Pi boots, it mounts the dir folder where my gcode is. The RPi is running Rasbian and pronterface.

I tried to have focus on open-source. :)

I have not tried Rhemaframitz.
