What supplier delivered a new motor without adequate labels? I would avoid that supplier from now onward. It is the case of new motor without labels u1 u2 etc and the panel is to be buit

NO.Let me explain my question again:
Is there a possibility of say when the star begin, it rotate clockwise and when it change to delta the rotation could be counter clockwise? Conside the traditional star delta circuit is okay and the motor three winding identified except that u1 and u2 not identified also for v and w
Thanks you got my concernNO.
If the Star Delta switch is OK, then there will not be a direction change when shifting from Star to Delta or Vice Versa.
Don't worry about the polarity to start with.
The 3 windings are u1-u2, v1-v2 and w1-w2.
Connecting any end of u, v, and w (say u2, v2 and w2) together will essentially form a Star. Powering up the other end with R, Y and B phases will rotate the motor in one direction. If it is the opposite of the required direction, Interchange the 1 and 2 of any 1 winding.
When the switch changes from Star to Delta, all that happens is that the common connection of u2, v2 and w2 is removed and u2-v1, v2-w1 and w2-v1 are linked together. The motor will continue to rotate in the same direction.
I am wrong. Wrong Polarity of the windings will have a serious effect on the motor running. It will sort of run in a pulsed manner. Thanks you got my concern
You mean physical by opening the motor?I am wrong. Wrong Polarity of the windings will have a serious effect on the motor running. It will sort of run in a pulsed manner.
You have to get the terminals of the winding correctly sequenced.
If there is no label, you will have to check the winding directions physically and determine the "1" and "2" of the windings. Naming any of the windings as u, v and w does no harm except running the motor in the opposite direction.
I do not think there is any other way to view the windings. You mean physical by opening the motor?
Great appreciation to MaxHeadRoom. Always helpful. You can observe/detect the polarity of the motor coils in order to sort them for star/delta with a battery and a meter, some examples are out there on the WEB.
Thanks, what most I affraid was if it change direction while changing from Star delta, because if it does then the motor draw large current that may damage many thingsIf the star-delta starter is wired incorrectly, the most severe consequence is potentially burning out the motor due to unbalanced currents or incorrect phase connections. However, the motor's direction should remain consistent throughout the transition from star to delta, assuming correct wiring in both configurations. Incorrect wiring might cause issues such as high currents or motor damage, but not a change in rotation direction during the switch.
I didn't know this though I google itUse the traditional strap method
