I attach a picture of a crystal very similar to one that I have. The marking code says: PPE 5.F401. What is its operating frequency value?

 

Your title says "crystal oscillator" but the image looks like a common quartz crystal and if it only has two pins very likely is a crystal and not a crystal oscillator. No way to really tell from that part number what frequency it may be.

Similar is not necessarily what you have. Endless crystals all look like that with an endless compliment of frequencies.

If it only has two terminals then yes, it is a crystal. The oscillators that size have 4 terminals.. I could not make out any details of the image posted, others may have a much better video display and be able to read it very well. I do have some crystals that look like that, which means nothing at all.

Clearly I did miss that fact. How similar is similar?? If it has 2 terminals then it is just a crystal, but if it has four, then it is probably an oscillator device. A package that size is probably in the megahertz or tens of megahertz range, it is too small to be a low frequency crystal. If an oscillator, the power would be either 3.3 v or possibly 5volts, no telling without using the part number.

Really? Then these must be in the Gigahertz range.



Actually, they are 32,768 Hz.
