What happens when AI starts trading stocks?

Nahh,
Not scary at all,
in fact, I'm just really, REALLY, tired of waiting for the whole System to go down.

I've been following all of this since roughly the mid-'80's,
but I have only been aware that something is actually being done about it in the last ~5-years or so.

The perpetrators of the various Control-Mechanisms that we have been living under
are seriously EVIL and warped in the head.
But getting rid of them is being accomplished in a very slow and careful manner to
lessen the impact on otherwise good "normal" people,
who may not be able to handle having a bomb dropped on them all at once.

Do your own research, or get caught with your pants down,
and screaming, "why didn't somebody tell me".

They did, but You blew them off as just being a "wacko-nut-case".

"Times, they are a changin' ", whether You are prepared or not.

Quantum mechanics uncovers hidden patterns in the stock market (msn.com)

Between the stock market, actuarial insurance, and setting the line in sports betting and fantasy football, AI has been at it for quite some time. There was a story back in the 80's about an AI startup company that received an anonymous customer's request to produce a custom AI program for them for predicting the winning team in professional sports teams play. They got it up to just above 50% correct but the customer was pushing for better than 80% accuracy. It was discovered that the customer was one of the major Las Vegas casinos and was being used to set the line in betting odds. Originally AI was conceived as an application for predicting and diagnosing mechanical failure plus preventative maintenance and repairs routines for large industrial machinery and transportation vehicles.

If it has the word quantum then you know it's likely woo of the BS type.
In a significant revelation, the study shows that economic uncertainty is the root cause of counter-cyclical herding behavior in stock returns.
A shockingly obvious revelation the paper does nothing to solve but likely is very useful in predictions of the past.

IMO the definition of AI is in flux.
I know people that 40+ years ago were doing stock picking software with massive databases, that learned.
My friend Dave wrote programs for manicuring plants that kept track of the results and changed the formulas to get more accurate with each run.
I had a software that wrote programs that not only looked at production, but in-warranty returns and could product the likelihood of an infield failure of the next unite. That program lived and breathed and kept looking for more colorations.

A data base engine that leans and adapts is old hat. You cannot get funding for more of the same. Re-name it, AI and money falls out of the sky to the same programmers. New words gets you space on the news and money from venture capitalists.

I don't see a line in the sand where this is AI and that is not. It is a continuum of what we are doing and will continue to do.
---ps------
This is the same argument about robots. We made machines that put parts on PCBs. They did not walk, talk, have arms or tell jokes. The news would call them robots one day and scare people, then the next day they are just machines. Every year they became more human like. We cannot say "on oct 17 1982 they became a robot." There never way a line to cross.

My definition is like porn, I know it when I see it. I haven't seen AI yet. I've seen only at lot of hype and bs marketing on things we could build in the 60's if the computer technology existed then. I've no doubt that eventually we will make it, but that day is just not happening soon with LLMs or that type of stuff.

"True-AI" will never exist, ( the kind of AI that is portrayed in the Movies ).
It will not be allowed,
( just like Nuclear-Weapons are currently "not-allowed", none of the existing Nukes are operable, zero ),
these things, and a few others, will not be permitted to function,
by unseen, "outside-influences" who have already learned their lessons the hard way.

"AI" has been around since the early '60's.
It is specifically what was used, ( FORTRAN ), for manipulating the various Stock-Markets,
and which was quickly turned into a high-stakes Gambling-Casino, where the "House" always wins,
and globally, the value of various Fake-Fiat "Currencies" and high-volume Commodities.

The person who we largely have to thank for this is Alan Greenspan,
who was a genius Computer-Programmer, as well as an Economist.

"AI" can't "fix" your current severe brain-washing,
or cure your sick desire to rule the World.

Anything that requires little or no effort on your part, will have little or no value to You, guaranteed.

That's just the way things work right now.
Stop complaining.
Start thinking about how you'd like Life to be,
then start diligently working in that direction.

What technology would you say (speculate) will eventually make true AI a reality?
No, idea. We are trying to recreate the gift of life in a machine. We exist, so we know it's possible but that doesn't help much.
It's like trying to create a great artist, by looking in great detail at, all of his art work. How do we recreate the source of new individual creativity from the fruit of creativity? What we have today is a Potemkin village veneer of AI.

When we finally learn that we have been duped by the masters of the universe we will come to realise that money is an illusion.
.
Except that they are far from being the "Masters of the Universe",
they are more like "The Borg" from Star-Trek, mixed with some sort of Parasite, with a Lizard-Brain.
They're actually not very bright, but very persistent, and can't "create" anything original,
but they're also master manipulators with nothing else to do.

We are witnessing their "last-stand", albeit, in very slow motion.

Laws, guns, and money are instruments of the ruling class to control society and the means of production.
This is the single most political statement anyone could make on this forum about anything.

Over 100 million human beings have been murdered over -- and in favor of -- this exact statement.

Their feelings weren't hurt. Their lives were taken.

Why is this acceptable for a moderator when I've been threatened with a lifetime ban for much less?
