I need a 10ft cable wired to a 24V DC solenoid valve, which AWG should I go with?

I dont know the current, I know the power: 4.8W

You can use wire as small as #35-36.

 

4.8W ÷ 24VDC = 200mA (0.2 amps). If this is for something like sprinkler control, 18 gauge should be fine. It's plenty ready at any local hardware store in their sprinkler systems section. Generally it's solid core wire because it's not expected to be moved once installed. Shock and vibration are also not expected. Wiring for 200mA can be easily handled by 24 gauge wire, solid or stranded.
