Oh my! 'Tis shades of the 'concessions center' at any swapfest anywhere! - Complete with (what looks to be) the 'EMT team' standing by (in the background) -- How truly time is as a savage adversary! This practice should be the law of the land.

Yeah, two of my favorites are.."If I was" instead of "If I were.." and the always annoying pronunciation of et cetera (etc..) as eKcetera (and yes I know (looked up) the Latin pronunciation and it still is not eKcetera and they are not speaking Latin. You know when you are an old grumpy curmudgeon when......................
One pet beef of mine is the grammar and pronunciation of local news casters, the national ones not so much.
If your job is not public speaking/reporting, then you may be excused if making a slight faux pas over a word.
But I agree with this, https://www.poynter.org/reporting-e...nchors-any-journalist-covering-breaking-news/ , especially #4
Many are often repeated mistakes that obviously go uncorrected either by colleagues or superiors.
Last night report took the cake, reporter completely muffed the word 'epitome'. Surely someone should have noticed before the item aired?
Rant over.
Max.
I don't agree, if that is your chosen profession, there is a certain onus on being correct, as per the article in my first post, I don't understand how there doesn't seem to be anyone policing them.I don't mind the bad grammar, if one can recognize bad grammar, one should be able to discern the intended context. No Problem. Snicker if you want.
Your call but when I decided to go out my wife and I planned it, both mine and her's. When I went out at 63 I was going to get about a few hundred less in Social Security than I would at 66 1/2 which was my full benefit age. Medical was a big, big consideration. My medicare would not kick in till age 65 or February of 2005. I went out in May 2013 leaving me a 21 month gap. I took COBRA at about $1,000 a month to maintain my nice package. We had the money set aside. Things also went well in that my company was bought by a large corporation who was our main customer. There was a nice stock ownership payout. My company retirement (pension) would not have really increased if I stayed and more and more demands were being placed on engineering with smaller annual increases.I'm going in to meet with HR about retirement package, they'll pay my Medical until I'm 67, the different in pension is$133 a Month if I wait till next July.
Should I wait or should I take it now?

Eligibility for medicare in the US is age 65.Check into Medicare now (just my opinion).
There are exceptions. I went out at 62.Eligibility for medicare in the US is age 65.
62 this year, in March 63. Just found out my early out paid benefits won't kick in till July 1st next yearOne missing piece is: How old are you now? (youngster)
Don't know if this has been said but the "Is there any there, there" And the "It's according to what the definition of is,is".MaxHeadRoo said:One pet beef of mine is the grammar and pronunciation of local news casters
This is where you sit down like I mentioned and start doing some math. Believe me a year goes past real quick. You crunch numbers and see what works for you. I wanted to retire but I also did not want to sacrifice our lifestyle. We both had very good jobs. Paying the medical sucked but in the end was worth it. I felt for me, it was time. Things were changing and I wanted to go out on top and well respected. With the new regime, added projects and smaller pay increases for me it was time and to this day I have never regretted it. Do whatever works best for you! I enjoy my bike and leisure days at my rifle range.62 this year, in March 63. Just found out my early out paid benefits won't kick in till July 1st next year

okI think you can work the spreadsheets all you want, but one question to ask yourself is "How would my future life be any better if I work one more year?"
That was how I decided when to retire.
