Not anything in particular......it's just good to know we have resources. We have other RE areas out west that have not been developed.

Might come in handy if we have trade problems with China in the future. They have cornered the market on RE, like Russia has on uranium.

Trade with Chine might be reduced over this NK thing. I would assume we would pressure China more......before turning NK into a piece of glass. At least a sea block-aid.....which will cause a stink.

I think most politicians would settle and live with the threat of NK nucs. I don't think Trump will.......but I could be wrong.

With a supply of oil/energy and the RE......we shouldn't have to depend on anyone. Except Russia for SST lifts.

One never knows where a discussion can go.

Never cared for John. W.Va. was wonderful way before John.

Yup, there are a lot of things that have been great (and remain great) and never need3d someone to claim to discover them, make them or remake them as "great".

So mining coal and adding the atmosphere's carbon load is okay as long as we get some rare earth elements along with it?
The major geological structures likely to contain rare earths have been well investigated by the US Geological Survey. The one feature with the highest rare earth concentrations and worth extraction are at Mountain Pass Mine near Death Valley. Moly Corp tried to reopen it when China had high prices and limited availability but China lowered their prices soon before it Moly Corp opened it so the mine has been mothballed and the Moly Corp division declared bankruptcy.

The effort in West Virginia is just a way to line the pockets of FOT who recently bought up mineral rights in W.V. but realized there is no money in coal no matter how few regulations are enforced. Soon, they will realize there is no money in Rare Earths - but they will only realize that when all the government subsidies run out.

This is indeed big news that has flown under the mainstream media radar. (So what else is new). I will follow this closely....this could be very very important.
Not really ignored by the mainstream media, it is just more interesting to the Financial pages than the front page. You just haven't been listening...

We need a new tech process to cheaply recover these metals. Like fracking is to gas and oil. From what I gather.....even China, the largest consumer, will have to import and search for new sources very shortly. Some estimates say next year for some metals.

When the price jumps......I think we will see a lot more interest in this. Both in acquisition and alternatives. Pro-growth policies and open lands might show we have many more resources than thought.

Perhaps some enterprising hobbyist will come up with a rare earth metal detector. A new wave of prospecting all thru-out the continent.

300 ppm seems low.......but it's a by product. It wasn't mined. They are analyzing the coal chain to see if there a profit trap point for investment. 300 ppm at the tonnage rate now would add up.

Another incentive to treat mine run off, perhaps. New filtering and separating tech might find large profit.

The Chinese found their new source of Rare Earth metals, they are buying the Mountain Pass Mine in California.

Yeah....I noticed that too...hence the push to nationalize the mine. I'm against nationalization in principle...but in this case, I might make an exception.
Stay tuned.
