Hello ,i have a 10mv Pk-PK i put 20dB attenuation threw it.
my signal generator is 50ohm and my osciloscope pobe is 1Mohm.
10mV pk-pk is 5mV amplitude this signal goes to 20dB(power) attenuator.
so 20dB is 100 linear attenuation thus voltage attenuation is square root of the power so it 1mV(10dBV attenuation)
the problem is with the probe. It have 1MOhm but i cant imagine how this probe measures my signal.
I have 50Ohm signal generator and 1MOhm probe.
1.What is the equivalent circuit the signal generator and the probe create?
2.at what place of the equivalent circuit they display on the screen of the osciloscope?
Thanks.
