I am looking to hook one PM-128 panel meter to my power supply.

What i would like to do is make the Panel meter read both volts and amps.
I was also told that this can be done with out a shunt.

What i want to do is have a switch so i can switch from volt to amps

I would like to do somthing like this

Is there any way to do this with out a shunt.

I currently have a power supply that has a meter like a pm-128 meter with no shunt. But i dont know if the meter is set as a volt meter or not let me know if you have any other idea.

also thanks for the like i might still do that just looking for other ideas as well.

A shunt is just a resistor in parallel. It provides a second path for a calculated percentage of the current, therby allowing accurate scaling and protecting the meter movement from overcurrent.

Is there a particular reason for the "no shunt" requirement in this application?
