Heh guys. I was wondering if the controller for a Vikay 2440STLDYGTN LCD module was a SPLC780D-01. The module is forty characters by four lines. Any help you can give me here would be much appreciated.

The controller for Vikay 2440STLDYGTN LCD is Samsung KS0066U.
You will have to check to see if it is compatible with the popular Hitachi HD44780U LCD Controller.

Found a page on the web (Jameco) which said "KS0066U or equivalent" - this is a clone of the very common Hitachi HD44780 controller so there should be plenty of examples and libraries for Arduino and the like available.
Note that there are two controllers, each with a separate enable line so both will need to be connected and controlled otherwise odd things will happen.

Thank you for your replies. I am not to surprised because my textbook says that pretty much all LCD modules these days are controlled by a Hitachi HD44780. My textbook has a big section on this controller. As usual you guys are totally awesome!! Thank you so much.
