@ Devise,when It come to strain on off-topic,I'm a world record holder
until proven other wise. Look at my picture and tell me what kind of water
proof grease I am using.Greaseless bearings, o'rings come out of the box
with a film of lubicate that is part of there formula to work for a long time.
We all live in the past,they are advertising thing on T.V. that are replacing
stuff that we learned and pass on. Gold Bond advertised a new itch product,
so go the old products by word of mouth,and no room on the stock shelfes.
I am going to check,I doubt that I find Vasoline as you knew it.

It is the best thing to use on any type of rubber(o-rings etc)

Vaseline; being a petroleum based product, is a definite no-no on rubber based compounds.

Silicone grease rules when used to 'shine' up old consumer products with plastic exteriors.
