Hello, I need help for a school project.

Objectives:
Sine and Square waveform output (can be separate circuits).
Amplitude: 0.6~5v (0.3~2.5vpp)
Frequency: 100Hz - 700kHz
We were not given any limitations on how to get this output.

I tried using a 555 for the square wave and then differentiating it to get a sine wave. Not the best idea I had. I'm also looking into using an xr2206 for this. Can anyone give me some tips on what IC to use or how do I go about getting this? A schematic would be greatly appreciated.

Added question: Whats the best range for dividing the frequencies (100Hz~10kHz, 10kHz~100kHz like that), is there an ideal ratio.

 

The XR2206 seems to do what you want. Example schematics are in the datasheet and it is best to follow these rather than be inventive.

Your teacher might be expecting you to use circuits you've studied in class. Have you been learning about integrators?

 

We mostly used 741s in our previously laboratory (which I heard is pretty bad) so I'm not too familiar what exactly to use. We've made an oscillator circuit before but it was only upto 10khz and it was fixed value. I can't seem to get frequencies beyond that without distorting the signal and sometimes it doesn't vary.

Why would differentiating a square wave get you sine wave?
