I stumbled upon an old variable capacitor (https://www.ebay.com/itm/284455516195). However, I'm uncertain about the correct terminals to connect in order to achieve the desired capacitance.
Any help is appreciated!

Yes! it is from 0.5pF to 5pF.

Note that not only isthat lug with the elongated hole the rotor terminal, It is also common with some applications that will be OK, for the shaft and the mounting bushing. so if the capacitor is attached to a conductive panel, it will be electrically common with that panel. for others, it will not be OK. So you need to examine the application circuit first.
