A medical article says the UV germicidal sanitizers being sold are useless BUT can damage your skin and eyes and cause mutations. One researcher disinfects with 240W to 480W (yours is only 20 dangerous W) in a locked-up cabinet.

thanks for the answer, in the attached photo, I have inserted the image of the product, I would like to know what effects that product has on my skin, does it tan me or damage my DNA?Screenshot_20230807-171726.png

For disinfection, you want to see true UV-C in the specifications. I installed a 20W source inside the HVAC duct filter. If it works or not; I did the best intentions I can.

UVC is the band where you can get germicidal action. It is also the band that will produce ozone. There are two different wavelengths involved but since ozone is a very strong oxidizer, it is often purposely produced from these lamps.

It is impossible to tell what wavelengths are being produced by the lamps in the fixture you posted. But some things are given:

UVC radiation will not tan you, but it will burn your skin and eyes. The eye problem is the same thing welders who don’t wear eye protection suffer from. It’s generally temporary but it is very unpleasant. Repeated exposure can cause permanent damage

Ozone (\( \mathsf{O_3} \)) is a very powerful oxidizer and a serious health threat. It‘s a great disinfectant, but it kills just about everything, including lung tissue and skin.

The combination means that a real UV disinfectant lamp requires the people leave the room, and, if it is an \( \mathsf{O_3} \) producing type, they will usually suggest you not return to the room for at least 30 minutes from the time it was switched off.

Depending on what you are trying to disinfect, one way to handle it is to build a light tight box big enough for the items and use a non-ozone type lamp.

Guess what? The Aspectek UV product is a Bug Zapper sold on Amazon. The datasheet does not mention it killing germs or viruses or any danger to skin or eyes. It comes with 2 spare bubs maybe because they burn out soon. The UV light does not kill bugs, it attracts them. The product has a high voltage grid that zaps the bugs dead.

yes, I know that UV A rays tan, I would like to know what are the power levels that tan and what levels damage the skin, expressed in watts

yes those uv tubes in that trap only serve to attract insects, but what are the power levels in Watts that damage the skin and which ones tan?

no I'm interested as an animal trap, what power levels in watts, tan and what levels damage the skin?
