Hi, I have a washer machine that uses a 189-227 uf capacitor. The original one does not work(it is leaking). I replaced it with a new capacitor with same specifications but worked just for 8 minutes and motor continued humming. I tried with a 233-280 uf capacitor and it works fine. Can I permanently use this capacitor without any risk of fire or damage to the motor ? Thanks!

If it is working OK and not overheating, it should be good, motor start capacitors are fairly tollerant, Also it sounds like it is the start cap (electrolytic) which should only be in circuit for a few seconds, othewise it can overheat and fail.
If this one fails, I would look for a start switch, if it has the internal centrifugal variety, you need to strip the motor.
