I'm looking at options for manipulating a SPI device from a desktop PC. Is there any kind of device out there?

This looked promising but seems to be unavailable anywhere.

Also it seems that device only supports SPI mode 0 - very limiting.

 

IT'S AN ANALYZER NO AN USB- spi

 

Most PCs communicate via USB (for a wired connection).
Thus you would send USB (or USB-to-UART adapter) to an MCU and get the MCU to communicate with the SPI device.

I was going to suggest this from Aardvark, I have an older model, but then I saw the price.

 

Have you looked at using an ftdi chip? This is just one variant. I’m positive they have them to support all 4 spi modes.

Yes, that looks pretty decent but I need to contact them, there really isn't enough detail on their site.

 

I use this tool. link1 to program the I2C memory and probe boards with I2C. It does much more than just I2C.
