I need to design a system that charges off a USB port,i'm using an FT232 chip and i'd like to knwo which rechargeable batteries are supported here,they have to either be 5 volts or bigger

 

You're forgetting the USB port is only 5V maximum so realistically your battery will be limited to about 4V.

 

Also what type of batteries. Many modern battery types are not easy to charge correct
