I have a transformer I removed from something a while back. I'd like to use it now. There is not a way to guess the VA of a random transformer is there?
Thanks!

Generally the secondary wire gauge is a good indication. It is also useful to accurately measure the winding resistance, because much of the heat generated in a transformer is from the current flowing through the resistance. And usually the dissipation of that heat is related to the transformer size and mass. And there is information available about that.
So simple, yet the perfect answer lol.Generally the secondary wire gauge is a good indication.
