I have a small SOT23-6 chip the only marking on it is 2089. It acts as an on/off switch for a cheap type remote control using a TSOP38238 as the IR sensor, pin diode and amplifier
There is a crystal between pins 1-6
The output of 38238 goes to Pin 5
Output to LED is pin 4
I have trawled all the SMT/SMD code books I can find.
I have tried major component suppliers catalogues.
And lots of data sheets for LED drivers
To no avail.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated

 

Sounds like a microcontroller. If it is, it's not a simple replacement.

 

I thought that at first but all it does is turn on 1 Led

 

I'm guessing it's for PWM.
