"I've not had any luck getting the stickers to work on a modern phone. That may be because of the different frequencies, or simply the much reduced power that is needed to communicate with the local low-power beacons that have mostly replaced the older high power masts."Cell phone signal activity still interfere with my speakers, it never stopped. Did it stop for you or you stopped using speakers with computers?
That post is about magnetic induction making the LEDs light up.
Things have changed from the old Cell-phone days."I've not had any luck getting the stickers to work on a modern phone. I never had a cell phone LED stickers which were in oval/elliptical shape like in the video. All the cell phone LED stickers I had were about 1.5cm in length and about 1cm breath, and they were different shapes, some were in heart shape, some were two hearts, etc, they lit up for 2G and 3G frequencies."I've not had any luck getting the stickers to work on a modern phone. I never had a cell phone like that. No one I knew had such cell phones. I don't think these types of cell phones were widely available in India. Cell phones became all the rage in India when they became pocketable.
Still around even with modern technology. We had one if we hit an iceberg.
If you want the real stories, Evan Doorbell has a series on YouTube about the phreaking scene in the 70s. I did a lot of the same things he talks about and I also lived in the NY/NJ area so it si very nostalgic for me.Public Pay Telephones!
When I was a little boy my uncle told me, way back in the 70's he would use a toy bird whistle. A round pipe with the plunger to vary the frequency and if you hit the right tone you can make it free phone call. it was called Phreaking.
In the US, 911 was established in the late 60a. They chose '9' because it had never been assigned as the first digit for anything, probably because dialing it was unpleasant. I believe the '11' was to compensate for the long return of the dial with the '9'.On the subject of telephone systems, the original decision to use 999 for emergency dialing when all there was was rotary phones was the worst!
For those that have never used one, 9 is the last number on the dial!!

We used a finger to speed up the return so we could dial faster. For those that have never used one, 9 is the last number on the dial!!
Phone phreaks (and some of us who were independently exploring) would remove the governor so they could dial at about 3 times normal speed. The switchgear kept up, no problem. We used a finger to speed up the return so we could dial faster.
