I'm trying to understand the rationale for the veto power vested in P5 - five super powers of the world, namely, Russia, China, USA, UK, France. If any one of the these P5 veto (or, vote against) a resolution, then that resolution cannot be passed or adopted. To me, it's a kind of hegemony and totally undemocratic, oligarchic policy. Please let me know your opinion on this. Thank you.

 

Look at then the UN was formed for an answer. It is undemocratic because they wanted it that way. It was an age of imperialism.

I'm going out on a minor limb here, and say that I do not want any part of the UN in charge of my life. The majority of countries in this world are corrupt past anything people in the democratic societies would consider acceptable. It is little wonder that the organization is so disfunctional.

We do not do politics on AAC. It creates bad feelings and settles nothing.
