I have a control board for a 40khz ceramic disc and I want to know if there's a simple way I can reduce the frequency to 39khz. Any thoughts?.

Yes! Just add the droplet of paint over the resonant radiator. It will become heavier thus the resonance frequency will shift.

I'm thinking it would be simpler to somehow change the resonant frequency as opposed to fiddling with the driving frequency since I'm only trying to adjust the resulting output by 1 khz.

Hello again, I was wondering whether the same effect would occur when the a wire is soldered onto the edge of the resonator surface?

 

Adding mass anywhere will have some effect in lowering the resonant frequency. But if the disc is supported at the edge then the effect will be much less than if the mass is added on a portion that moves more as it vibrates.
