Hi all, just a few points i need answers too, here goes, today i started building an us cleaner using 2x 100watt drivers and 4x 50watt transducers,im running them in pairs in parellel if that make sense, firstly i tested it with just 2 out of 4 transducers connected for about 30 seconds,it seemed ok,i unplugged it and went to connect the other driver pcb to the remaining 2 transducers,on toutching one of the unconnected transducer terminals i got a hefty shock, even tho at that point it hadnt been powered,is that normal?,at that point the tank wasnt grounded,i made a cock up connecting one of the last two transducers,i got the polarity crossed on one of them,it was only when i saw the last 2 i connected i discovered it!,i redid the connections and corrected my silly mistake,on powering up then there was a flash from the 2nd driver board,a heatsink was badly positioned and shorted on a adjoining pcb track,i sorted that but it had shorted 4x 1n4007 bridge diodes and a npn switching transistor also a 2.2ohm 5 watt resistor,as well as blowing fuses,i sorted that ,then tested it on my known working transducers and it worked,i then swaped it back to how it was wired originaly, turned on and the number 2 pcb that i just repaired and had working on no one bank of 2 transducers went bang,is there a way to test the transducers with a dmm etc,i would think there hard to kill?,the last blowup was the transformer windings shorting, that was on the previous good pcb,i am now trying to make a good one out of the pair until i can get replacements, but need to test the transducers are not blowing the driver board up,also i measured the voltage to the transducers at over 1kv when working,is that normal?,seems lethaly high.,any ideas?,cheers Paul m3vuv.

just measured both pairs of transducers with my 328 component testerone side reads17.3nf+10.43nf,the other pair read 8641pf+7646pf,does that mean one pair are faulty,if so any ideas which pair?,ive jusr replaced transistors fuse and diode bridge+ power resisters on one driver and dont want to hook it up to bad transducers and fry it againe ok,TIA paul m3vuv.

What were the measured values before you powered them up? Unless they've changed you can't assume they are faulty.

i didnt measure them before, its just there capacitance seems to be very different, both ordered at the same time from the same company, should i change how there connected,ie pair a low and high value,at the moment both low cap values are in parelell and both higher ones in paralell.

what is the failear process of these,ie can reverse polarity kill them?,or they still work but in antiphase and cancell eachother out if one of the series pairs is wired backwards?,TIA.

We are working with a big unknown:
What are the transducer make and model numbers?
Are they inactive ceramic devices or are there any other components attached to them?
Do you have a spec sheet for them?

these are the ones i have, the 40khz 60 watt onesx four,ie two lots of transducers running in paralell each pair running from seperate driver boards.https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001299846807.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.0.0.10ba7ce4L7mI6M&algo_pvid=c313f74e-7899-4b4a-aa80-28dc1df3e0f9&algo_exp_id=c313f74e-7899-4b4a-aa80-28dc1df3e0f9-30&pdp_ext_f=%7B%22sku_id%22%3A%2212000015629912174%22%7D&pdp_npi=2%40dis%21GBP%21%2110.92%21%21%215.54%21%21%402100bdcf16583334583886781e1257%2112000015629912174%21sea

There are no details of impedance or input voltage given. Do you know that they are compatible with your driver circuit?
