Hi Everyone,

I would like to design a flyback converter with uc3843. But I quite don't understand what the COMP pin is used for and how to set it correctly. I am totally new on power electronics. Can anybody explain in a dummy way so I can learn it.

Best regards

hi my,
Why have you deleted the question while I was typing a response.?

Read page #9 of the PDF it explains the Compensation pin #1

Hi Eric,

Sorry my question was shortly : why do we need another compensation network for comp pin while we already design for the feedback loop? Additionally, how can the resistor and capacitor value be calculated ?

Thanks for your reply.

The purpose of the compensation pin is to modify the shape of the closed loop response to improve stability. In a typical case it accomplishes this by introducing phase lead. Calculating the component values requires knowledge of the closed loop response without the compensation.
