Tying multiple /OE together

Is there anything wrong with tying two active low /OE together that are being driven by the same source? I am using a MAX31856 and buffering the output using a NC7SZ125P5X. The buffer only needs to be on when the temperature sensor is enabled. This does not seem to work and I do not understand why.

There should be no problem driving the chip select pin of the MAX31856 and the output enable pin of the NC7SZ125P5X with the same low signal. Do you need a pullup resistor on the enable lead of the chips?
