I have used ones from Weller and JBC, and I doubt this one would be much useful. The soldering tips are too far away from your hand to do anything precise, and too thin to transfer any reasonable amount of heat.

I have a pair bought from MPJA years ago. Very rarely used. Most 2-terminal devices aren't worth saving IMHO, and I use my regular assembly iron for them. For bigger things, I switched to hot air -- a Wagner HT400. The Wagner is inexpensive and I do not use it for soldering, just removal.

What are they for desoldering two pad items? Doesn’t seem that great to me too but wondering if someone had a good use for them.

Yes we mainly use them for desoldering of two pad components, especially large ceramic caps and other things connected to large copper planes.
