TV Reception Channels 8 not receiving. Anyone else same issue in Utah? Or elsewhere?

I have three TV's connected to two different antennae. On one antenna there's a Sony Bravia and one Samsung TV. Neither of these TV's receive channels 8. 8-1 through 8-8. The OTHER antenna is connected to another Samsung TV. It also does not receive the same channels 8. Is anyone else in the United States experiencing anything similar? I'm in Utah. I know of at least one other AAC member who is in Utah.

At first I thought it might be my antenna. But when I looked at the other TV on the other antenna I got the same results. Both of these TV's were the Samsung TV's. So I checked the Sony TV and it also does not receive those channels. So I'm wondering if anyone else has found the same problem or if it's just local to the Salt Lake area. SLC is where my antennae are pointed.

TV stations sometimes change frequencies or perform maintenance that can temporarily disrupt service. This is more common after FCC-mandated "repacking" of broadcast signals.
Contact the station broadcasting channel and ask if they’ve made changes or are experiencing issues.

Thought it might be the broadcasters. Haven't yet tried calling them, but this has been the case for almost 3 weeks now. I haven't been able to watch H&I (Hero's and Icon's). Star Trek and Black Sheep. Figured if they were having technical issues by now they would have been fixed.

"we installed new transmission equipment that now provides a stronger signal into the Salt Lake City metro area. However, you must perform a rescan on your television so that your TV can process these changes.

It's a common issue with the transition to ATSC 3.0 requiring transmitter antenna polarization, channel mapping and modulation changes. The receiver maps the physical RF into logical channels and saves that in some sort of NV ram. It's a special mapping mode that must be manually selected on most HDTV receivers.

TV Channels 1 through 6 are VHF low and channels 7 through 13 are VHF high. Each channel has a 6 MHz bandwidth. If your antenna(s) are designed for UHF that may be your problem. Next since all of this is directional you want a VHF antenna beamed at the transmitter site. I had the same problem with Channel 8 here in Cleveland, Ohio suburbs. I also assume your distance to transmitter site is within range for good signal reception.

Overview:

In the United States, digital television (DTV) channels are assigned frequencies in the VHF and UHF bands:
  • VHF band: Channels 2–13, with frequencies between 54–216 MHz. The VHF band is divided into two ranges: VHF low band (Band I) from 54–88 MHz, and VHF high band (Band III) from 174–216 MHz.
  • UHF band: Channels 14–36, with frequencies between 470–608 MHz.

Because of the large gap between the VHF and UHF bands, separate antennas and tuning controls are often required to receive both. UHF bands also have more noise and attenuation, so higher gain antennas are often needed.

DTV broadcasts are available over-the-air (OTA) in metropolitan areas, and often carry both standard-definition and high-definition (HDTV) transmissions. A simple antenna, like "rabbit ears", can sometimes receive DTV broadcasts within 35–40 miles of the broadcast station. However, terrain, trees, rain, snow, wind, and people moving around can interfere with reception.

Will do a rescan Sunday. Hard to understand that channels 2 through 7 and 9 through the channels I haven't deleted (up to channel 19). But if 8 did some reprogramming then I need to figure out how to do a rescan. Been looking through the menu but not finding a scan or rescan function. I guess it's up to the YouTube Boobs to help me here. Actually sometimes they have good advice. Unfortunately too often they cause more problems than they solve.

The late response is because AAC wouldn't load for a while. I stopped trying after a while but before bedtime I thought I'd give it a glance.

OK, so it's not Sunday yet. Thanks to the YT Boobs, successfully scanned. Now I have to get rid of all the channels I don't want to be bothered with. Foreign language channels, kids channels, shopping channels and whatever else has been loaded.
Sacrifices must be made.
Thanks all.

The rescan is the first thing to check if one channel goes missing. Too many junk channels is a problem but I seldom directly watch TV. My MYTHTV Linux DRV system records the selected programs for later (sometimes much later) viewing.
