I have a Horizon Treadmill, AFG 3.1AT (Ser #: TM426112BC00119) model, that was working fine and all of a sudden the upper console shows no life. I was told by support to check all connections (fine), kinks, bends or breaks (fine), if the board was getting power and it is, but nothing lights up and buttons don't work. There is only a constant beep from a round thing attached to the board. Is there a way i can check further to see if it is actually the board before i buy the expensive replacement?

Personally I'd have a look for a company that specialises if fitness equipment repair & service, yeah it's a good idea to get it serviced. They'll lube (application of silicon spray if they offer to sell you lube you'll find it cheaper to buy a can from a hardware store, lots cheaper, I've seen the mark up they use) and align the mat, check the bearings & belt tensions, give the innards a good vacuuming and generally make sure everything is ok. You may be even able to save a few dollars if they let you drop off & pick up the machine. And any repairs they do will come with a warranty. If you do decide to buy a replacement just check what the warranty is for a "self install", some may only want to honour any issues if it was installed by "a authorised service agent" or whatever fine print they may like to use.
Speaking from experience I'm sure there were treadmills made that had evil spirits move in prior to leaving the factory.

It could be a problem on the upper console board or an issue on the control board that regulates motor speed. A comms issue, and this is going to be difficult to resolve if you don't have access to 2 known operating boards. Unless of course you have a willing friend or family member that has the same model.

I know it's probably not the advice you want to hear, you may have even been putting off making a call to a repairer, but sometimes you just have to bite the bullet.

Anyways good luck.
