Diode is OK.
Check the new MOSFET before soldering.

Thanks, I got a new MOSFET and DIODE in the end,
and tested them ..both are okay.

I have just put them in... but alas...it is doing exactly the same *boo*

I've retested both, and both are ok...must be something else...
There is a faint burning smell from the motor,
and the round 10p sized capacitor NTC 3D-20 get too hot to touch withing 10 seconds..

working my way through the components, and have found that R3 resistor
(the 470 kilo-ohm one), is reading infinity.

*wow* just replaced the 470kilo-ohm resistor and it seems to be working fine now !
