My roger black gold treadmill has developed a problem, the motor runs intermittently it's very juddery and is impossible to walk on, so before I take the control board out for testing has anyone come across this problem before and If so what parts were replaced. I am also going to test the motor properly, as I have tried the motor on a car battery which seems to spin ok, I know that is just a basic test for power hence the full test to come. Thanks for any replies to come.

Try it will the load/belt off and see if any problems show up when ran, if runs OK like this, it points to mechanical problem.

Yeah sorry I should have mentioned I have had the belt off and it's still doing the same thing. Thanks for getting back to me.

Check motor brushes for wear, and any mechanical problem with bearings etc.
For these kind of tests I use a Variac with a DC supply on the output for running up to speed.
Also does the motor have any feedback sensor, opto sensed slotted wheel etc?

Hi, Ive stripped the motor and built it back togeather all bearings seem fine, motor brushes don't seem too worn....I can't find anywhere that states the minimum length of the brushes before changing but they do give off a few sparks while running . As for the motor I can't see any sensor, I'd really like to get my hands on another motor just to do a quick swap to see if it is the motor or control board. Thanks.

Is it possible that the motor magnets have lost a little strength then trying to draw more power to compensate which has overloaded the board and fried something, what's to say it won't happen again if I fix the board. Thanks.

Had the control board sent off for testing by someone that does it for a living and his reply was the motor drive mofset had blown and 'other' components. I'm suspecting he didn't give me a full breakdown of what these other components were to stop me from fixing it myself. Also there's a company that deal in motors round the corner from me that is testing it me for free.
