Can I remove the covers from this transformer so that I can mount it flat
from the 4 holes on the core instead of standing up with the feet on it?

Thanks

Hello,

It can be that the covers make up a magnetic shielding.
If you do not need that, the covers can be removed.

Some equipment manufacturers did so routinely - as others stated; the magnetic field could give you a few difficulties.

Not running wiring across the bobbin usually works, but you may have to put in tinplate partitions to protect any sensitive circuitry nearby.

Yes, why do you need to remove the covers to bolt it using the transverse holes?
Enclosure is not tall enough for the transformer to stand up in. I had this one on hand so thought would take the covers off if I could, instead of buying another transformer.
