FWIW, 4.8 of the 6.8 billion go to their northern neighbor. But it's more than just another business outsourced across a border. The brewing industry in Mexico seems to able to just do things right. It's a tough business and they're a tough competitor.

Yeah, when I lived in Austin, I saw at least $1B of Tecate consumed.

I missed making a reservation for Mother's Day brunch at a new local spot and so we went last might instead. It's an upscale wedding venue that also serves food and drinks Wed-Fri. They have a bunch of outdoor seating and that was perfect for us last night. One of those unforgettable evenings with the family.

Anyway, I ordered an "Italian gimlet" before dinner and it was exceptional. I'm going to try to reverse engineer it but I'm not optimistic I can. It looked a bit like this, but with a rosier hue:

The second liqueur is not available locally. And I'm pretty sure there were other ingredients to give it a fizz and foam. So it's going to be a challenge. Totally worth it.

It's amazing what a skilled bartender can do. This drink was mind-expanding. Compare that to for instance the gawdawful Old Fashioned I had the night before. Simply dreadful. C'mon, it's not the hard!

I loved Schlitz back in the day. The final batch will be made soon in Verona, WI which is about an hour north of me. They‘re taking pre-orders. I’ll get a case if I can.

The fall of such a great product is a cautionary tale.
The note said it was more like a "pause" in the brand ... I hope that's the case

I can remember buying Schlitz for a buck a six-pack and quarts for 35 cents in the early 70s in Illinois! Very popular in the Midwest states but not so much in the Southeast where it was a lot of Pabst Blue Ribbon.
