to use this temp sensor you need a voltage source.
Anyone make a small homemade voltage source and sensor rig all in
one that is cheap and worth copying.
And would it be ok to glue or silicon this sensor onto an aluminum surface..?? it will be used for the 100F to 300 F range.

 

TMP36's have a limit of 125°C, which is 257°F.
You'd need a temp sensor that goes up to 150°C (302°F) or higher.

You'll probably need to use a thermistor or perhaps a thermocouple.

 

257 is good enough

A TMP36, two resistors, a 0.1uF capacitor. You could power it with two or three AA or AAA batteries in series, and use a voltmeter in the mA range to read the output. Just subtract 58 from the mA reading, and you'll have the temp in °F.
