Sorry, got involved writing an article and lost track. I've started drawing it, but it isn't finished, so I'll stash it here until I can work on it on another computer.

Please "stash" on your desk and not here.
And that helps the OP how? I am trying to help here. You need to work on your moderator skills, perhaps where you are a moderator?

Basically my thought is to take a counter that will divide a clock by 16384 and use it as a time base. It won't be too accurate, a digital watch with a driver attached to the watches alarm would be better, IMO.

Anyhow, a 24 hour day has 86400 seconds. Working the math that means the clock period (which is easier than calculating frequency) is 5.27 seconds. Working that into the equation I'll come back with a parts list.

I'd really think about the digital clock w/ alarm approach though, RC oscillators suck at accuracy. The 4060 has a crystal schematic, and will come out with a 2Hz time base, but I don't think you want to go with that kind of complexity. It is possible with 2 more ICs, I just don't believe it is worth the bother.

Meanwhile, I'm still working on the attached schematic.

It is funny, I had come up with the digital watch idea before I read Soran's suggestion, but there isn't anything to argue with it. If you decide to go that route I'll try to come up with 555 or 556 lockouts for the watch alarm.
