Thyristor as a diode

First off - I've been using the site as a good reference for my dabbling but I have a simple question to ask that must have been answered here before, however, I can't find that answer.

How can I use thyristors as diodes, in a full-wave bridge to be precise.
I went through this link:

...but wasn't sure whether I had the answer.

Can I connect individual thyristors per either of the thumbnails below, or is it just not that simple?

I'm building a rectifier and smoothing circuit to convert my AC arc welder to DC.

Be gentle with me.

Thanks bertus. I need to handle an input of about 130A and it was easier (and cheaper) to buy thyristors than stud diodes at that rating.

I edited my profile per your suggestions.
