The wind toppled over tree of my flower pots. It was rather upsetting.

 

Reading up on it, it seems to have a high potential to be a other history making event.
(untill the next one. With higher global temperatures the extreams just get extremer.)

Staying clear of it if you can seems good advice.

 

Winds about 20mph-40mph the past 2 days in Tampa. Lil rain not much. Temps dropping rapidly. Was about 89f yesterday, today it topped at about 78f. Tomorrow its supposed to drop into the low 50's high 40's. Crazy weather for this time. I've never seen it below 75 at this time ever.

 

60 years ago the first hurricane came to Toronto. It wiped out all the stupid people who lived in the river valleys.
Now the government does not allow housing in the river valleys because a hurricane might come again. Oh yeah, it comes tomorrow.

I put away my patio umbrella and turned my heavy patio table upside down and hope it doesn't fly away or break windows. I hope my heavy BBQ does not fall over.
I put away the furniture on my front porch.
I HOPE the millions of leaves that are all over the place are blown away. I HOPE the tree that produced most of the leaves is blown away.

We might lose electricity for a while but it will be fun in the dim (battery powered) light.
Candles are romantic but they make soot.

I live on a little hill so I do not expect flooding.

My roof is in good shape so it should survive. If my car blows away then my insurance company will replace it.

I hope my dogs don't get blown away.

 

I was in St. Thomas in 1996 when Bertha came through. It was small by hurricane standards but it was sure big enough for me.

We had large wooden doors for the patio in our hotel room. That hurricane shook the doors and I dove behind the bed!

Next morning there was not too much damage but crap everywhere. A number of boats were driven ashore of those owners that did not spend the night aboard. Can't say I blame them. I spent a night aboard in a tropical wave which is two steps below a hurricane and that was enough for me.

 

I put away the furniture on my front porch.

My jack ass neighbor's chairs are still out front. He was taken to drinking out in front of his house. We live in a townhouse community so my front door is about 20 feet from his. I hope his chairs get blown away and reduced to kindling.

That's news to me. Do you have any definitive proof global temperatures are on the rise?

You don't need to be a rocket scientist. Just look around you.
Are you going to wait until the science says with 100% certainty that you've just been hit on the head with a ten ton rock?
btw, I hope you survive the hurricane without a scratch or moment of concern.

On the east coast and in land area's this storm is going to be bad,

are you in the path. What are you doing to prepare for a hundred

year storm.

 

Are we seeing a low number of U.S. Forum members on line due to the storm

arrival to east coast. All the major U.S. cities are in the path. The N.Y. stock

exchange will be closed,some business exc"s will be working from home. The power

grid will make the difference. A good chance to evaluate the Internet connections

during an emergency,who can get out.

I think its: "Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence"
Whereas "evidence" relates to data(preferably the reproducible kind).

How each individual interprets that data is up to them.

I've been watching the CNBC news etc on cable and hoping all my American friends are ok.

It looks pretty dire at the moment with large scale power outages and the breaks in transportation etc. We went through some severe storm flooding here in east and northeast Australia a year or so ago, and the repercussions will last a lot longer than the storm, things like food shortages in stores, insurance issues etc.
