In Connecticut the speed limit is posted along with a "Minimum" speed. "65 MPH Limit, 45 Minimum". In the case above, just go 20. They can't site you for exceeding the speed limit. If they do - take them to court and ask them to define the word "Limit".

I travel to Texas frequently, and I can (almost) attest to this:

But where are these speed trap hotspots in Texas? In an article by the Houston Chronicle, several towns and highways were highlighted as popular locations for these traps. If you're traveling through any of these towns on your spring break adventures, take extra caution. Nobody wants their travels ruined with a speeding ticket.

  • Glenrose, Texas on U.S. Highway 67
  • Gregory, Texas on U.S. Highway 181
  • Mt. Enterprise, Texas on U.S. Highway 84
  • Palmer, Texas on Interstate 45
  • Rosebud, Texas on U.S. Highway 77
  • Buckholts, Texas on U.S. Highway 190
  • Savoy, Texas on U.S. Highway 82
  • Sonora, Texas on Interstate 10
  • Estelline, Texas on U.S. Highway 277
  • Lott, Texas on U.S. Highway 77

I lived near HW77 (play'd HS football vs Rosebud) as a kid, nothing has changed.
Rosebud has always been an evil little town.

You can also add to that list all the small towns scattered along the border with Mexico, such as Zapata, Camargo, etc

I think lots of places, particularly small towns, have speed traps that are long-standing and well-known to locals, either by word-of-mouth or by personal experience.

There's a town near here that, as you enter town, the speed drops from 50 MPH to 45 MPH for a couple hundred yards, and then to 30 MPH. The cops sit right at the 30 MPH sign, which is just around a small curve so that you can't see them, and nail you as you come into town. The other direction is even worse. It stays at 30 MPH all the way up to the 50 MPH zone, so that the speed limit in one direction (the uphill direction) it 45 MPH and the downhill direction is 30 MPH. Here they sit on the other side of the road at the 50 MPH sign and nail anyone that is over 33 MPH even immediately before the sign. The other side of town has a road that come into it that is 40 MPH and, just as you crest the hill and start coming down you hit town limits at 30 MPH. The sign is set so that you can't see it until you crest the hill and there's a cop sitting at the bottom to capture your speed as you come over the hill and hit the 30 MPH zone. They don't give any warnings, either.

Before I-95 opened through Georgia, the routes to Florida through southeast Georga were riddled with clip joints, roadside brothels, one armed bandits and the notorious speed traps. One so bad the governor (shown in the picture) erected a billboard to warn travelers.
