I wonder if you could drill a hole through corn cob holders and attach wires to the spikes, then stick your thermometer in the middle to insure proper temp and even cooking.

Maybe even cook corn on the cob from the inside out. Great idea. It's a lot of water to heat and I find it tricky on the barbe.
Edit:
Maybe @cmartinez has a foolproof barbecue trick.

I think you have something there, worth an experiment. I think maybe you could put them in series with the hot dogs :)

As I remember I think you provided a similar example for cooking hotdogs in the past.

Don't forget when you pass Fillmore on the I-15 corridor south, that you should stop in and eat out in Beaver where dreams come true.

You just can't make this stuff up, Heber Utah has a Restaurant with an adjoining building that share parking space. The sign promoting the business's in the same building say's .........

"Chicks Cafe and Dicks Barber shop, parking in the rear o_O"

Got me thinking Utah is really weird sometimes and started me thinking from the Thread " Is there anyway of voting against someone without voting for someone else."

Truth is you can parking in the front tooo_O

Sorry, but it's true, it's all in the way you look at it. I think most peoples minds are in the gutter, but Mormons don't drink, don't smoke, what else is left. lol

Actually I do! ... the trick is to not cut off the tip of the cob, nor peel any of its covering leaves when you put it atop low live fire (and not just embers) on the grill. That is, the cob has to be as if it's just been cut off the plant, like this:

The outside leaves will of course burn immediately, but the inside layer will protect the corn, keeping it moist while it's being cooked.

Telling when the thing is done is the easiest of things. Just grab the corn with your hands (using a couple of oven gloves, of course... unless you're a real manly masochistic macho ) and then twist the corn with both hands ... if it twists easily, and feels rubbery, then it's done and ready to peel and eat!

This process will take longer than just laying the peeled corn directly atop the grill, but it will make it taste far better, moister and tenderer than the brute force approach.

NOTE: I've posted a duplicate of this post in the Tales From the Grill thread ... for historical purposes. :D
