I scored a mere 25,900. Thankfully trollop was on the list ... :D
Too bad sesquipedalian wasn't, I might have made up some ground. :)

It really doesn't matter how many words you know, what matters is how well you use the words you do know.
I agree, to a point. The process of obtaining that vocabulary usually parallels the process of obtaining information on a wide range of subjects. When I was in grade school during the stone-age vocabulary was a subject of study (maybe it still is). We didn't study for the knowing of many words or being a Sesquipedalian long winded blow hard, it was us to effectively comprehend and communicate language in a professional manner by understanding the context of those words.

32,700 -- or so it says... I am a little leery of it, as I'm wondering how they arrive at the figures, with a list of such common words...
I am going to do it again, because I didn't capture the link that goes back to prove my result.

I agree with you. Feel the same. Statistics used in a refined way, I presume. (Think of Akinator...!)

BTW, myself...: 19.300

32,100, which they claim is the 50th to 60th percentile for my age. I would expect that I would be higher, but who knows. Certainly a test like this is going to have a significant margin of error.

The site didn't ask for an e-mail address at all, just a zip code.

The site said something about being accurate to 10 percent of the word count ... and how many words were needed to get down to 1 percent error.....

Thought I was doing well on the first page, :) then thought I flunked by the end of the second. :(
Ended up with 27,400 which was better than I thought it would be. Maybe I'll try again.

Cool. I can read that. Probably because of my Anglophile aspect.
Lucky you. Unfortunately for me the term Sanctimonious Prig tends to describe my wife's attitude on her bad days.

According to her the whole world should live by her standards yet her standards tend to be for the most part totally useless in practical rational application and purpose yet highly regimented just the same. :(

Sheesh! You're married. You can either be right or be happy. I shouldn't have to remind you.

Repeat after me, "Yes, Dear"......................... "Whatever you say, Dear"........................."You look great in the dress, Dear".............................. :D:D

By the way, my wife considers the above comments as sarcasm, especially, "Yes, Dear".
