Technics SU-Ch9 - using the amp without the modules-- is it possible?

Hi,

Does anyone know if it's possible to use the amp alone ?

I have the other modules but not sure how to hack the circuit so the amp becomes independent.

any ideas would be appreciated .

Thanks

and if I find out the voltages ? I guess some current needs to be sent back to the amp.

what can I do if I get those voltages

Thanks

Just noticed that the amp has the mains input, and will have the transformer, the service manual will show which pins on the ribbon cable turn the amp on/off.

Have you tried it without any modules connected?

It will probably need an ON signal from any module, which maybe 5V , it's knowing which pin is needed.

You will probably have to buy the service manual, can't find any sites with free download.

here's a copied piece from another post on the earlier model SU-CH7

. I'm guessing that a digital signal is sent to the the amplifier from the tuner via the ribbon cable (via 'Bus Data' which is pin 4 on the 11 pin ribbon cable connector and pin 5 on the 13 pin ribbon cable connector). I suspect that this digital signal triggers the amplifier to switch from 'standby' to 'on'. A work around could possibly be to some how replicate a triggering signal on pin 4/5. In my previous post I though someone might be able to measure this triggering signal if they have the tuner that goes with the amp.

it is working!!! Thanks a lot...
Only problem is after 5-10min eq block and there is no sound. Also only one channel works but I think the problem is with amplifier. I mean, what do I expect fot 6$??

Thanks for all of the information, and especially that service manual.
The service manual does provide detiled instructions on how to operate the amplifier by itself. That should be valuable, if any are able to utilize that information.
And I am now thinking that I will chose to not ever get any Technics equipment that is set up like that.

Hiya!
So did this get resolved sufficiently to know what you connect where?
Don't you just feed one of the strip wires to one of the other strip wires to complete the circuit?
Surely it would take a simple solder job wire to connection, wire to connection...?
Unless the equipment needs a flow between the tuner so it reminds the equaliser to stay active? (as would be the fault latterly mentioned with equaliser and sound drop....)

It is not that simple to access the conductors in a ribbon cable, and in addition, that would prevent it from being used with the other sections again.

Please tell us how you solved the problem. Did you bridge two contacts or was it some 3,3/5V input? Which pins?

Mine is working fine on its own without the other modules. Its been so long I forgot what I did but it cant have been too technical . I must have just bridged the contacts .
