Maybe time to start a winter food thread or favorite chili recipe.

kv
No need for a winter food thread ... this recipe, and the next one, are perfect for winter time. Feel free to add as many as you like to this thread. :)

And btw, that Cheese And Beer Soup recipe took me years to perfect. I suggest you give it serious consideration ...

One of the oddities about living where I am, is that it can be the middle of December and still have perfect weather for a BBQ ... below are shown 3.5 kg of Aguja Norteña, which I intend to cook/smoke in its own juices for 4 hours. I'll let you know how it went.

And here's the result, after 2-1/2 hours in the grill ... the meat was so tender that for the most part you didn't even need a knife.

And also, the cheapest and least elegant of all rums turned out to be the best seasoning for apple empanadas:

I'm having a few friends over for dinner tomorrow night. I'm gonna make a big chunk of my renowned Rib Chop marinated in Juniper Berries, Gin, Red Wine, Balsamic Vinegar, vegetables and herbs.

The ingredients for the marinade:

I had to use a hacksaw to cut the piece of beef down to a size that would fit my humble (but absolutely marvelous) Crock-Pot BBQ Pit :

Here's the piece on the device's rack.

Next step is to marinate it for at least 12 hours. I'm going to use a Turkey Oven Bag for that purpose. I'll let you know how it went.

There you go, the piece has been marinated overnight, and all morning until noon. It's all set and ready to cook. I'll see you guys in 5 to 6 hours:

My wife has an excellent Beer Bread With Cranberries recipe. One of the ingredients is, well, beer. The recipe calls for a robust, porter-style kind of beer. This is the first time I've tried this one, and it's absolutely delicious. @joeyd999 , I know you're a Guinness type of fella, but I think you might find this beer to your liking too:
