Hello i am doing an article about STEP LINE TENSION AND STEP MORPHOLOGICAL EVOLUTION ON THE SI(111) „1x1… SURFACE

and they talk alot about island decay and step stiffness ,

can you please tell me what is island decay and step stiffness and if there is a relationship between them .
