I designed it to control a 12V, 1.5A microscope light. Not much different than controlling a small motor.

Glad that you got things working!

What would it take to make this ramp circuit either a) ramp up to full power and then pulse on and off in ~0.5 second intervals or b) pulse in ~0.5 second intervals throughout the ramp and continue pulsing at full power? The simpler the circuit, the better - I figure the second option would be easiest.
